The University of Saint Francis School of Creative Arts will present the beloved family musical adventure, “The Wizard of Oz” during the fall semester as part of the opening of the University’s downtown campus. Fly over the rainbow with Dorothy as she rides a twister into the merry and troubled land of Oz and learns that no matter how far our journeys take us – there’s no place like home. Come join Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and Toto as they travel the universe of Dorothy’s imagination. USF is offering a special event after the Sunday matinees with a chance to have your little munchkins become official members of the Lollipop Guild! Brad Beauchamp will direct.

Written in 1900 by L. Frank Baum, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” was the first American fantasy for children and one of the most-read children’s books. The 1939 film starring Judy Garland was nominated for six Academy Awards and won Best Original Song for “Over the Rainbow.” The film was reintroduced to the public with annual broadcasts that began in 1956 earning it the title “most-watched motion picture in history!”

Performances will be presented Friday through Sunday, November 4-6 and 11-13, at the USF Robert Goldstine Performing Arts Center, 431 W. Berry St., Fort Wayne.
